Quality meat from our own cattle breeding programme
We started our own cattle breeding programme in Germany so we can also offer you regional specialities with our beef. We work with selected contract farmers who rear Uckermark cattle and Uckermark cross-breeds for us in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The farmers are distributed over Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Uckermark and brandenburg – from the Baltic to the Elbe.
Uckermark cattle are Germany’s most recent breed for beef production. This cross between Charolais and Simmental cattle was originally bred in the former GDR in the 1970s and first recognised as a breed in 1992. After the reunification, these indigenous, good-natured meadow cattle, who were named after the eponymous region of Brandenburg, were only bred by enthusiasts. But, thanks to our beef breeding programme, this regional Uckermark breed is being granted a new lease of life.
